Post Election Ruminations

I had hoped that we would have been able to be led by a righteous leader (Mitt Romney) but I think that there is too much pride in our nation to make that happen.

Well obviously.

It is sad because the Ron Paul supporters who say they understand the Book of Mormon ~yada yada yada~ (if you have been following Mormons/Ron Paul supporters you will understand what I am saying) are possibly the most prideful of all. Ron Paul has successfully divided our nation. To what end? God can't bless us as a nation if our hearts are hardened. I thought I was pretty good, you know, not too prideful....but I realize I have a long way to go before I am seriously ready to submit in all things to the Lord. That is the natural man in me. Has God asked the impossible of us? Of course not, but we can't be complacent any longer.  It is complacency that gotten us where we are at now as a nation. We can move forward from this tragedy (yes, I think Obama winning a second term is a tragedy) and exercise our agency for good. "Become as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father" (Mosiah 3:17, Book of Mormon p. 153). We must also develop the Christlike attribute of charity as Moroni describes in Moroni 7. I believe if we can do this individually and in our families that these attributes have the ability to spread...as God is willing.

"But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him."
~Moroni 7:47
