Tender Mercies

The other day I was heading south on I-17, you know going with the flow, when out of no-where I saw half a sheet of sheetrock flying through the air. It was kind of a weird feeling knowing that if I continued driving as I was I would slam right into it. Well, the sheetrock flew into my lane and I immediately slammed on my brakes and quickly looked to see if the person behind me was braking too. (They did.) I was able to slow down enough to not hit it but the car in the lane left of me was not as lucky. The sheetrock hit that car head on and disintegrated. It even knocked a side mirror off the unlucky car, but the driver kept going as if nothing happened at all. It didn't even appear that he had swerved an inch.

The whole incident happened so fast, yet it was like slow motion. I can still see the sheetrock flying low through the air almost like a kite and wondering to myself what to do. Really the only thing to do was slow down and hope for the best. I personally felt after that I was being protected...I am still amazed that the car that hit it didn't crash! I felt perhaps angels were there all around me keeping me and all the others safe. It also made me wonder, "What exactly is my purpose here on earth?" I can't tell you how many times I have felt that my life has been spared driving on that particular freeway. I immediately offered a quick prayer of thanks for being kept safe.

I know the Lord is giving me an opportunity to be a mom, to bring this child (#4) into the world. To raise my children, to be tested and tried. To learn how to build a lasting and eternal marriage with my husband. I know the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ holds me in the palm of His hand and He has lifted me up during my lowest of lows. The Spirit is continually reminding me of all the Tender Mercies that have been given to me. What is my greater purpose here on earth? What is yours? And what are the Tender Mercies that have been shown unto you in your life?

That is a good and direct example how Heavenly Father is involved in our lives. I have been recognizing His hand more and more as we travel through our trials. His power to let us know that He is right there for us to catch us just before we fall, reminds me of a toddler trying to walk for the first time. We let go, but we are still there, ready to catch them. I am thankful for that reassurance.

Thanks for sharing Kendi! (That is what Hailee calls you).
