Today, I had the opportunity to help with the Bear Cub Scouts. It was an interesting experience to say the least. These boys are full of spirit and have lots of energy, testing the waters big time for their new leader. Can you blame them? We were all kids once...we tried to get away with whatever we could. Right? Remember?
For a little background, cub scout den meetings always start and end with a prayer and at the end when our awesome leader asked for a volunteer to say the closing prayer, a boy jumped right up without hesitation. The rest of the boys quieted right down and at the moment they did the Spirit came in the room. After this young boy prayed I spoke up and told the boys that as soon as he stood and the room was quiet the Spirit was with us.
These energetic young boys, so full of life, looking for fun carry the Spirit of God with them and I feel priviledged to know them. I wish you could have been there to feel what I felt and to know these boys. Despite the turmoil in the world, I know our future is bright!

Firm as the mountains around us, Stalwart and brave we stand
On the rock our fathers planted For us in this goodly land-
The rock of honor and virtue, Of faith in the living God.
They raised his banner triumphant -Over the desert sod.
We'll build on the rock they planted A palace to the King.
Into its shining corridors, Our songs of praise we'll bring,
For the heritage they left us, Not of gold or of worldly wealth,
But a blessing everlasting Of love and joy and health.
Chorus:
And we hear the desert singing: Carry on, carry on, carry on!
Hills and vales and mountains ringing: Carry on, carry on, carry on!
Holding aloft our colors, We march in the glorious dawn.
O youth of the noble birthright, Carry on, carry on, carry on!

I like this! :) I have learned that it is important to point out those moments when the Spirit dwells with a class or a group. Those kids need to learn how to feel that.
