Although I have been blogging off and on for a couple of years, I have more recently started exploring the blog world. I have stumbled across so many amazing people with so many incredible stories. People who have experienced challenges much more difficult that I have ever had to endure up to this point in my life. These heroic people write about their lives, their families, and their faith in such a way that is uplifting. In a way that leads one to become a better person. To love more. To care more.
I have also read instances of people who write about their family in sarcastic ways. Making jokes about the ones whom they claim to love the most. The Merriam-Webster Online dictionary defines sarcasm in this way.
Sarcasm:
1. a sharp and often satirical or ironic utterance designed to cut or give pain
2. a mode of satirical wit depending for its effect on bitter, caustic, and often ironic language that is usually directed against an individual
It doesn't matter how innocent your joking may seem, no matter how funny you think you are being, sarcasm is NOT the way to go. Sarcastic remarks do not foster a loving home environment. I know this from personal experience. Sometimes I let my sarcastic streak get the best of me and then I end up regretting my words. I'm not perfect, I make lots of mistakes and I am trying to be more positive in my language. So if you are looking for any of that here, too bad, you won't find it. I will continue to practice dry whit, but I will not under any circumstances poke fun at my family or friends in any way.

Excellent point! At a Dave Ramsey EntreLeadership workshop, we learned that anyone working for him who gossips will be fired. I believe this falls in the same category. Using words to uplift and inspire is always preferable in any set of circumstances.
I felt suitably chastised while reading this and even thought about binning my entire blog which is clearly making fun of my family who I love dearly. Than I looked at the cartoons, felt relief and thought no the blog is fine...after all I send myself up most of all :)
ps I was always told that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit but the Brits are great at it and 'Monty Python' and 'Fawlty Towers' are hugely popular...so lowest form of wit it may be but it seems loads of us enjoy it.
I appreciate your comments Mom and Facing50blog. It was not my intent to sound self-righteous here and the sarcasm I'm talking about is the kind that hurts others. The truth is I have a couple of young kids who read my blog and how would it look to them, whose minds are young and impressionable, if I "let myself go" and write whatever pleased me without thought for another?
