Water Play

Why will a child willingly play outside in the sprinkler or wade in a pool, but when it's bath time screams in terror at the thought of sitting in an inch of water? It doesn't matter how big one smiles or how many silly songs are sung, bath time is just plain torture....we are lucky to live in a place where it reaches well over 110 degrees in the summer. Having plenty of "water time" is essential. Whether we swim at Great Grandma's house, at the city pool, or play in the sprinkler at home, water guarantees a good time.

As a kid my brother's and sister and I had plenty of water fights. Sometimes in the house, but most of the time outside. There were water balloons and squirt guns. Then there were water weenies that we made out of sling-shot rubber and the casing of a ball point pen. (If you ever had one you know what I'm talking about and you probably have a huge grin on your face right now. Maybe you're even thinking about making one again.) After the water weenie craze came Super Soakers! The ultimate water gun and the best weapon in a water fight!

Whatever the case I'm sure as you're reading now memories are filling your head about the times you played in the water as a child or a grown up. Go ahead, share something fun. Take a walk down memory lane. And then when you're done get your kids, nieces and nephews, and have some water fun! (And for the finicky bather grab the soap and shampoo and give her a "hose-bath" when your through!)
